Hi there, just joined the site. I have two kids ages 11 and 9 that are very into ghost hunting (ok I cant blame it all on the kids....lol. I am into it too). They have been asking me to take them back to places like Gettysburg. I'd rather see how they'd do somewhere a little more local first....lol. I was considering getting them some inexpensive equipment to use also. Can anyone make some recommendations where we can go that has some history and places I can pick up some equipment for them?? I plan on getting over to B&N to get the book Haunted Staten Island. But sometimes the best places dont make it into the books. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

I am going to be completely honest here. I think it is a bad idea for children to be ghost hunting. Watching it on TV and actually going out and doing it are completely different. Regardless of what anyone says, it can be very dangerous. There are many cases of children bringing spirits home with them. Not knowing how to protect themselves, children leave themselves open to many things. Children also have very active imaginations. In my opinion, it is hard to tell when they truly see something and when they are just opening themselves up to suggestion. The South Jersey Research group often has Kids Tables at their ghost hunting events where kids can get involved. They have some fun activities for them. Check out their kids page: www.sjgrkidsclub.org/Don't know if that's what you wanted to hear, but it's my opinion. Amy
