I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on saying a little prayer whether alone or with their group BEFORE going out on an investigation. Although I was raised Catholic, I was never a religious person and rarely went to church, but when I began going on paranormal investigations in my late twenties, I felt the overwhelming feeling that I NEEDED to ask for God's protection. Now I wouldn't dare go on an investigation without saying a little prayer.
I would like to know if this is a common practice among our board members. Also, does anyone carry with them any protection trinkets when they go out in the field?

Kristi, I think it is a good idea regardless of what religion you are. It cannot hurt! You never know what you might see or hear and prayer never hurt anyone. Just for the record, I was raised Catholic also. Patty

ive always said a protection prayer before I record. It's very quick but I feel important. This is what I say. Before I begin I want to welcome my circle asking for your protection and I have to insist positive energies only. Also when I'm finished I thank them for helping me. Ive never heard of anything bad happening but I think it's just a way of showing respect.. billyd. My circle consists of my mother, father, sister, aunt lois and my best friend mark

Hm. So, Billy, you call on a specific group of people to protect you, or are you calling on them also to speak with you? Are your EVP sessions open to whoever wants to come through?

While I've never been on a Ghost finding investigaton, (maybe one o' yall could help me with this?) I absolutely believe in the power of prayer. I was raised Catholic, and am still a practicing Catholic, and I even sing in a Catholic Choir on SI. I carry a small prayer book with me in my shirt pocket where ever I go. I also keep a small metal cross with me as well. Just for added protection.
Also, even though I'm a Catholic, as my name suggests, I am a Rev. While I never went to seminary, it is legal. How I became a Rev is a loooong story. Some people consider it to be BS, and I know don't consider myself truly worthy of the title. But, since now sooo many people know me by that handle its just to complicated to shed. Therefore, I try to do my best to live up to it.
