Do you believe that it is possible that Bigfoot exists?
Has anyone ever heard of the supposed Bigfoot sightings on SI?! LOL!! I'll try to find the links and post them here.

I've never heard of the SI bigfoot sightings, so that would be a fun read.
I do not believe in the existence of Bigfoot at all.

haha, thats great amy, ive read those articles before. there was actually a big article in some paper (im not sure if it was the advance or not) about this guy named tom modern who presented his beliefs in the si sasquatch to a group in manhattan. he believes that almost no one sees the sasquatches because they either have an advanced tunnel system through the greenbelt, or because theyve learned to exist in an alternate dimension (huh?). when asked about encountering the si sasquatch, my favorite quote of his was to "bring rocks and beer, because no one should have to go through this thing sober." i found that pretty funny.
anyway, i grew up near the greenbelt and was in there all the time. i saw some weird stuff in there, but never a sasquatch. i personally dont believe in them, but who knows. now watch...next time i go in the greenbelt im gonna fall into a sasquatch hole

These articles were the first I'd heard of the SI Bigfoot and I never heard of anything after it. I didn't know he had "theories" on why no one ever saw them. LOL!! Interesting... Maybe he should've left the beer home the first time....!

Hello, I have seen what I would call "Bigfoot" on SI many times. I'm not sure what they are. They are only active in the middle of the night and so the woods are not a very inviting place to be at that time. Pretty much forget about any daytime sightings. During the day if you find areas that have telltale signs of activity, you can return at night and possibly have an experience. Or if you camp out thatis better. But the wilder, remoter the spot---the difference in how used to people they are. So you could be in some danger as well. Its bettr to experience the ones outside of theGreenbelt, they are more used to people. They do speak English also, and so you can communicate to them you are not there to harm or expose them. I have many times. Thing is, they will NEVER communicate with you directly (why should they?), but in one instnce they used to have a nickname for me ["there's the guy............." (omitted)]. They can be ominous also and once gave me warning signs to not return. THey are mostly concerned with food gathering: small game, plants, roots. They have spectacular night vision. Moonlight or starlight can illuminate their eyes alone---unlike deer. I have seen that many more X's than physical sightings. The sightings began as far as I know in Richmondtown in the mid 70's. The Staten Island Advance did an article about it but I've never been able to find it on Microfiche. They also did artticles in 2003 & 2005. New York Press did one in 2003. Bigfoot on SI---I hate to say it---is no big deal to a real islander. Some police officers as well.

I am going to disagree with you on that last point. I have many family members who are cops and I've never heard them once mention it. My entire family and all of my friends grew up there and never mentioned it either. Many of us spent a lot of time in the woods as teens and young adults and have never seen anything.
I will look up the articles that the Advance did the next time I go to the library and see if I can find them. If I do, I'll post them.
This is an interesting post, Time.

Sorry, not all cops know the score. Most of the higher ups who are privy to intel might know, but. SI is lousy with Bigfoot. If you get out there late at night and stay quiet and non-threatening, you will come to learn.

I have seen the SI Bigfoot a total of eight times, none of them in the woods. My first sighting was in 1996 as I was the passenger on the Staten Island Express way near the Sanitation complex. As we approached the high hills, just before the sunlight hit the top of the dunes. I noticed a tall hairy figure running along the top. It bent down and picked up what appeared to be a small dog and dotted over the top of the dune beyond sight. A car had pulled over ahead of us and there was a person who may have taken a few snap shots of what I had witnessed. I date this event to spring in possibly 1996, or 1997. The car I was in was heading to New Jersey.
My second sighting was at night heading north on Hylan Blvd near the intersection at the Great Kills Park. It was roughly 1:00 AM, a female Bigfoot crossed the road a few hundred feet in front of my car. I did a double take I was about to yell at what I thought was a homeless lady covered in plastic garbage bags. I did notice that the eyes reflected my headlights a few feet before I saw the hunched over figure. The female Bigfoot was carrying possibly two offspring around her waist. The Female Bigfoot took off across from the park to an extension to the park that most likely led to the Greenbelt via a sewer system.
My third sighting was in Richmond Town near the Church as you come down the road. The time of day was something like 12:00 PM, it had stopped several cars and let out an awful howl, it smelled like the Gorillas in the zoo. It looked right at me before it took off and headed towards the Church. My wife witnessed it as well, we thought it was someone in a monkey suit in the middle of summer at first, but quickly acknowledged that it was clearly something else.
My fourth encounter was on Hylan Blvd near a heavy high grass field. I had stopped near the field when once again I smelled the same Gorilla scent and heard a lot of commotion coming from the high grass; it appeared to me that several Big foots were having some kind of horse playing ritual when I interrupted them. I left the area when the roof of my car was hit with a rock.
My fifth and Sixth encounters happened at Wolfs Pound Park, for reasons unknown to me they did not like my presence in the park. I would hear a tree being banged nonstop when I would arrive in the parking lot. It sounded like an active construction site as the sound would be in a certain rhythm. On a few occasion my car doors would be left open on both sides, on two different cars. Folks these Bigfoot are intelligent beyond our comprehension. I also have witnessed how they can go through dimensions at random intervals. I have just stated events that I believe were Big Foot encounters without sight or at least just warnings. My fifth sighting occurred as I was on a bike trail towards to back of the park Parralell to the beach. Again the smell in front of me was the same Gorilla musk; I saw the bare buttocks of the Bigfoot as it just disappeared as it darted to its left and into thin air. My Sixth sighting occurred near the water sprinkler system, there is a low lying bush and it moved repeatedly for about five minutes when I went to investigate I again smelled the same musk; however this time the Bigfoot was hiding in a crouch position and darted in the bush area towards the open field. again the Bigfoot did not appear and left into another dimension as it did not come out of the bush area. Come to think of it I did see it two more times in the park, my seventh sighting took place by the picnic tables, a female was playing with three smaller ones near the waters edge. My daughters and I had approached them and the older female commanded them not to make any sudden moves, she was agitated that we had come so close. I ignored them and turned away, a few steps later I turned around and they had disappeared from sight. I recall another sighting near the waters edge when we noticed a few heads bopping up in the water out in what I call the bay area. The last two sightings happened after 7PM near sundown. I do not expect you to believe what I have written; but in life you will always find the unexplainable and have to take it for face value. I know what I saw, encountered and witnessed and no one on this earth can change my mind, so please do not try to challenge my story unless you want to gain facts about the elusive human offspring called Bigfoot.
