My husband just bought me a Canon Digital Camera. I'm learning how to use it, but I already have a nightshot gone bad experience (see photos)! What kind of camera does everyone use and what do you think of it?

I have a Lumix 6 megapixel digital camera and a digital video camera. I think both are very good.

I also have a hard time with my camera. It's a Kodak Z740. It's digital and I love it...but I find a lot of my pics come out blurry. These new cameras have all these crazy settings on them to ensure great photos in various environmental scenarios, but it's so difficult to know if you're using the correct one...thus resulting in blurry pics or pics that are too dark or too light. I'm giving a big thumbs down to technology. LOL J/K

I dont have a new style digital camera, and I rarely get "anything" with it...do you think that means that the newer cameras are picking up to much, or the older camera's arent picking up enough??

I think the newer ones are being "falsely accused" of getting things! I have seen pics that looked exactly like my pic of Nicky that are being labeled as "Parallel Dimensions". With digital cameras, the pixels are filled in by the camera sometimes creating something odd that seems to be mistaken for stuff. And those stupid "pieces of yarn" that people get are labeled to be ghost energy when really it's just the shutter speed of the camera picking up even the smallest hint of light. Just my two cents...

Interesting Amy...So in other words you feel the older camera's are better...or just learn a little bit more about cameras to decipher what is and what isn't paranormal?

Therein lies the question! I think that we have to just learn what is and isn't paranormal.
I think that the reason people "get more" now is because of the camera, not the paranormal. I think it's hard to pick real things up on film. We have weird photos, but no "ghosts" in photographs.
There is NO WAY people pick stuff up on every investigation. If they did, science wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it.

I tend to agree with you. I think that it's a matter of figuring out the camera you are using. I do also agree that most of the "paranormal pictures" that we see these days are not truly anything paranormal; they are just mistakes that someone has made when taking the picture.

I also agree. I have taken some interesting photos since we started this organization and I'm certainly not the type of person to believe in something based on a simple photograph...but when all aspects of "possible false" photos have been examined, and there are no natural explanations for the oddities captured, we tend to post those photos and admit that they are strange or odd, but never as a confirmation of the supernatural. We also like to take all of our viewers' thoughts and opinions into consideration. What one person might see as "ghostly", another might see as a reflection. We like to explore all the possibilites with the help of all of you...the message board members and visitors to our website.

i have a kodak z710. its a great camera for the price...7.1mp, 12x zoom, and currently only about $180. but im having similar problems...theres so many features that i feel like im never using the right setting. it has a generic "auto" setting that is supposed to cover all the bases, but im trying to memorize all the different settings and when to use them. it seems like everything these days has a huge learning curve....

Absolutely. I really want to know everything about my camera, but there really are so many different settings! It's kind of ridiculous! : )

My team, Ghost Hunters Bluegrass uses digital cameras but would also use a regular camera on occasion. We have had good results with either one.
