Please refrain from posting names and addresses of private residences for the privacy of the owners!
Also, if you have done a cemetery hunt, please do not post the name or location, just the city. Destructive people come looking for the information, go out to see "ghosts", and destroy property!
If it is a public place, like a museum, that is a different story.

I have a friend who lives in Tottenville. His father Built his house in the early 60's. There has been paranormal activity ever since they moved in. His sisters had a room in the basement and would hear things, her bed would shake, but never could explain it. His mother has claimed to have seen things move out of the corner of her eye, The radio changes by itself. His nephew when he was a toddler used to talk to somebody that wasn't there , he said the man's name was Zibsey. My friend has seen a woman in white in his room, has also heard is name being called when nobody was home. His dog would also bark at the basement steps , but nothing was there. One night we were hanging out in his basement and somebody had a ouji board so we started to mess around with it, All of a sudden I just got this feeling to just stop, I just felt like somthing was there, it did scare me. His family even looked at the History of the Property to see if it was near Indian land, or if somthing had happened there. But all documents they have say that Nothing was ever there. I did take Digital Photos of all the rooms , in black and white and color photos.....In one picture It did look like white mist, But An ex girlfriend took the pic so I dont have the Proof anymore.....If I speak to his Family Would you be interested in doing an Investigation there? Thanks

We would absolutely conduct an investigation. We would do our best lloking up the history of the house and the area, too, to see what we could dig up. Have your friend email us at SIParanormalSociety@msn.com .
How did you hear about our website?

You know, I haven't heard that story, but I live next to the property and I have picked up 3 different spirits along Victory Blvd. there--- those three have moved on, but it seems like a place where several of them are--- I don't know if it's an accident prone area? All of them seem to be accident victims-- or if one big thing happened there. (Lisa, this is what I meant about having conversations on the street with "no one". I swear, my neighbors think I'm totally unbalanced, LOL) Anyhow, for what it's worth, there ya go

ive been interested in ghosts and hauntings and paranormal stuff since i was a little kid, like a lot of people, but my old apartment on grymes hill really proved to me that theres more to this world then just the physical. im a level headed person and despise when people exaggerate or embellish their stories, but some of the stuff that happened to me there was just ridiculous. i had two really, really bad experiences on two seperate nights in that place, and i spent about 6-8 months unable to sleep more than a couple hours per night because of nightmares and fear that it would happen again. there was another thing that stands out in my mind that happened in there. it wasn't negative, but i dont even like to repeat the story because i feel like people would think i made it up to try to get attention.
i wish i still lived there so u guys could come in and check it out. maybe one of us can conveniently bump into the new renters in front of the place one day and ask if they ever had anything unexplainable happen there. who knows, maybe whatever was there just hated me because of my devilish good looks and boyish charm......just kidding....

Any idea what would cause spirits to leave a place without being asked? My sister's house was rife with paranormal activity for years, but suddenly, it all stopped, and the whole atmospehere of the house changed. Although at times it was really creepy, overall, the spirit or spirits seemed to be harmless, and we kind of got used to all the antics. Still wish they were there so you could come and investigate them....

LOL, Bill! There are many places I'd like to accidentally bump into the occupants. My old apartment is one...
mjb- Depends. There are so many things. Did anything change- anyone die in the family, anyone move out, dispose of any piece of furniture or material that had been in the house? Was there a teenager that grew up? Were there arguments or any type of disagreement that was somehow resolved? Maybe someone was hanging around and was finally happy with the way things were going. Very hard to say.

Amy - I see your point. Is it possible that the spirit or whatever it was realized that it was scaring us? The last incident I had there involved my young son seeing a man (who looked just like the man I had seen there on numerous occasions!) and my son becoming very frightened by it, and not wanting to go back to the house. After that, we never witnessed anything, and over time, the house changed its atmosphere. It used to be very cold no matter what the thermometer said, or what the weather conditions outside were, and suddenly, the chill was gone and the feeling of someone or something wacthing you was gone. However, a few weeks after my sister passed away (and a few years after that last "incident") a piece of jewelry that had been missing for years sudddenly appeared in of all places, a kitchen cabinet! So, could it be that it just hasn't shown itself? Or, am I giving these entities too much crdit for sensitivity?
BTW - going to Garibaldi-Meucci Museum next friday night. Can't wait!

Well, did you specifically tell "it" that it was frightening your son? I definitely believe that some spirits leave if they are asked. If they were harmless, I guess they could have understood that they were frightening you guys. The piece of jewelry could have nothing to do with the original spirits. That actually happened to my cousin- she found a piece of lost jewelry after having a dream that told her where to look!
I don't think I'm going to the GMM's haunted tour because I already had something to do, but it is awesome! Tell them you heard about it from us! I'll be there the following week for our discussion group.

I will definitely tell the folks at tonight's house tour that I found out about it through your site! So looking forward to it.
As for our former spirits, I didn't actually articulate how scared I was when my son saw the man, but that was probably the first time that I had ever felt scared, and maybe whatever it was sensed my fear, and left or decided not to show itself anymore. All the times before, I guess I believed what I was witnessing and invited it, or at least wasn't distressed by it. But, when my son saw it, it suddenly took on an uncomfortable feeling, and that was the end of it.
So, if the mysterious return of the jewelry was not prompted by some sort of spirit, what do you attribute it to? It was actually found in a kitchen cabinet, behind a can of tomato sauce! Interestingly enough, the kitchen had been redone about 10 years after the piece had originally gone missing!

No, I said it may not have to do with the original spirits, not that it didn't have anything to do with spirits! I attribute that to your sister being helpful
