I'd like to get some opinions on Ouija Boards. I haven't messed with one in years, but in my college days, we used them quite a bit and had some very interesting experiences.
I know most people say to stay away from them, but I wonder if anyone else has had any kind of experiences with them?
Thanks

Well, my sister (AMY) and I had used them fairly often as kids with no fears, but due to human nature, the fear did not set in until it was planted there by other people's stories and legends as we got older. We never had anything "strange" happen while playing, but now at 30, it would take a lot of convincing to get me to open one up again. LOL I'll be honest, I don't even know what ever happened to my old board. I'm sure my parents probably threw it out while moving at some point, and we're all still alive and well. LOL I actually received a glow-in-the-dark Ouija Board a few years ago as a gift. I have yet to open the box and use it. We'll see. My personal opinion is that ANYTHING can be used to contact spirits if all the participants are truly trying to make contact. If a bunch of kids are just screwing around, I just can't see why a spirit would find that inviting and make itself known. When several willing, serious participants are attempting to use one to make a connection with the otherside, I would imagine that they would be more sucessful. It's definitely something to think about though. Great topic!

Thanks for responding. Like I said, we used one quite a bit in my college days. We had some very interesting experiences that made me have to believe that something was there. We had it tell us things that we couldn't have known, we had it help us find lost items, etc. So it was very interesting. After using it for a few months (off and on) we began talking to something that said it's name was "Fedgu". It seemed helpful at first, but we then seemed to talk to it every time we used the board. It told us that it didn't like me because I had strong beliefs. Eventually, it's attitude changed from nice to demanding and not nice at all. It got to the point where we refused to communicate with it and it scared my roommate so much that they eventually broke the board into pieces and threw it away. Of course, being me, I went out and bought a new board and put it in the old one's box under the couch so my roommate would find it one day and think the old one came back! That worked like a charm and I had a big laugh over it. I haven't really used one much since then, but still find it an interesting subject. I don't know if we were talking to something for sure, but I felt confident that we were.

i used one with some friends several years back, and i have to say that that experience made me a full believer in the paranormal. i had some similar experiences to you, rk. like it predicting things we never could have known, etc. that thing freaked me out, and i have no doubt in my mind that it was for real. i was the big skeptic at first, staring at everyone's fingers and looking for some sign of someone moving the thing, but everyone was barely touching it. we kept getting the same spirit also, it was a young kid from wisconsin named abe who said he had been murdered. he said that he was waiting for his mother to die so that they could cross over together.
i dont think id use one again though. though it made me a believer, i got too freaked

I would love to use one, but my friend screamed at me and told me not to.

I used to think that they were just a toy..i mean Parker Brothers makes a million a day (exaggeration) and every one of them would be able to conjure a spirit? That was my thinking when I was younger....Yep, here comes the story....
When I was younger hanging out at my friends haunted house we used to mess around...back then, like now, I was a skeptic...well we held our own seance just like they did on TV, lights off, just a candle and everyone touched the pointer thing...well it was moving to letters but they didn't make any sense so I just assumed it was one of us messing around, there were five of us doing it, one was writing...well that didn't work so we set it on fire because someone said to do that so we don't get any evil spirits come through...well the board wouldn't burn...it would light, then just go out...so we decided to put it on the oven...lol...I know, we were kids...so anyway we cooked it on 350 and it did burn a little...we left it out on the table to cool off..now she had one of those islands with a pot rack above it...we were all in the TV room and we heard the pots smashing into each other, so we all ran across the hall, opened the door to the kitchen and the rack was shaking and the Ouija board was in the sink with the water running on it...no one else was there but us and we were all in the TV room...pretty freaky stuff...I know it didn't get up and walk there itself, maybe it was one of the spirits living there, I dont know...but I do know that after that, I always thought there was some truth to the board

If I didn't know Lisa, I wouldn't believe this story. Lisa is one of the most SKEPTICAL people I know and definitely a believable person.
We had played with it once when we were younger and had a candle blow out by itself. Anything it spelled out I attributed to the guys next door, but not the candle. That went out on it's own.
I had a friend who had very strange experiences, too. Maybe I can get her to talk about them.
